To ensure chronological order in your stock data, Insider TA can be configured (via the Configuration Options Panel) to check the dates assigned to each stock entry, and verify that all days are in their proper sequence. This option is initially disabled.
If an entry's date does not chronologically follow the previous entry's date, then it is tagged as a "suspicious date". If any suspicious dates are found in the stock file, and if the date check function is on, a window will pop up to warn you that these errors exist.
To identify which entry(s) were flagged as suspicious, the window will include the box number followed by the date that is attached to it. You can fix the problem using two methods:
・Left-click the View Stock Data button to pop-up the Data List window. From within this window, select the Jump ..to a Suspicious Date button to automatically advance to the entry holding the suspicious date. Left-click the highlighted line to pop-up the Edit Data Panel.
・Reassign new dates throughout the database using the Auto Date Fill function.
Insider TA performs the Date Check Function after you load a new stock file, or after you have edited data in the Edit Data Panel.
What causes suspicious dates? Primarily, there are three reasons:
1) Manual entry error: If you entered the data manually, then you might have entered the date incorrectly.
2) Data-Merger error: You may have appended new data to your files with the Data Merger Utility's Validate Chronology switch set to off.
3) Erroneous data in recap files: It is not uncommon for these downloaded files to have their own errors (for example, missing lines of data). For instance, the following list of data entries is missing an entry for 10/17/2002:

If Insider TA reads the preceding sequence of data entries, it will flag entry #149, with date "10/18/2002" as a suspicious date. Why? Because at that point, it expected to see the date 10/17/2002.
