Setup
Default Views
In
the Configuration
Options Panel,
there is a page in the "Miscellaneous" section titled "Setup
Default Views". It gives Insider TA the ability to initialize the console
switches to your desired configuration for new stock loads only.
In essence, you are creating your own "default" set of parameters
(i.e., a view), and it will save you a lot
of time if you study many stocks.
New stock loads are those that have never before been "seen" by
Insider TA, as logged into the View Database.

The
console switches that you can set default modes to are:
Price Lines Display horizontal price lines.
Candlestick Display chart in candlestick mode.
Pt & Fig Display a Point & Figure graph segment.
Smoothing Enable the smoothing option.
Notes Initially show file notes.
Mov Ave The initial settings of the Moving Average number spinner.
BA Ave The initial settings of the BA Average number spinner.
BA Tag The initial settings of the BA Tag number spinner.
Configuring Default
Views:
This is a feature
you'll want to take advantage of. In a scheme analogous to the View
Tab Manager,
you can tell Insider TA to automatically create a default set of view, each with
their own settings, for every new stock that's introduced to the View
Database.
A common question is, if more than one default view has been created, then
which one does Insider TA initially use to display a stock? Answer: The
tab that's shown "on top". In the above picture, this is the default
view labeled "Weekly".
BA Optimizing:
This automatically
invokes the BA Yield Optimizer, which finds the optimum setting
for the Mov Ave, BA Ave, and/or BA Tag switch. It's
important to remember that the BA Optimizer will optimize only the ones
that are checked on! So if you want a thorough optimizing, make sure that
you put a check mark in each of these three switches.
Also keep in mind that if you've enabled "BA Optimize" for more
than one default view, then Insider TA will take additional time to process
all of them. For instance, let's say you set up three default views as
shown above (Daily, Weekly, and Monthly), and checked the "BA Optimize"
switch for the Daily and Weekly tabs, but not the Monthly tab. Whenever
you introduce a new stock to Insider TA, it will have to optimize both the
"Daily" and "Weekly" views, which will take up a little
more time (perhaps a few seconds) than anticipated.
Notice that this feature has the footnote "for manual loading only".
The only other way a stock is "loaded" into Insider TA is via
the File
Scan Utility.
The File Scanner's Preprocessing Panel has its own "BA Optimize"
feature.
Box
grouping:
Each
default view can be configured to its own unique Box Grouping. In the above figure, we have set
up 3 default views:
Daily Box grouping set to 1.
Weekly Box grouping set to 5.
Monthly Box grouping set to 20.
Notice that this feature also has the footnote "for manual loading
only". This is because the File Scanner's Preprocessing
Panel
has
its own "Box Grouping" feature. This forces all stocks in a scan
operation to be analyzed with the same box grouping.
