銘柄ファイル名を入力する時は、下図のようなファイル･エントリー･パネル File Entry Panel から行います。
画面の左側は｢パス｣をリストした「パス･メニュー」です。ここには、使う頻度に応じて３０まで、パスを表示します。現在アクティブなパスはグリーンにハイライトされます。
パスはディレクトリー名と ファイル･マスク File Mask とで表現されています。
この例では、ＣドライブのＩＴＡＷＩＮディレクトリー内のＤＡＹディレクトリーに格納されている、「．ＤＡＹ］という拡張子を持った銘柄ファイル全て（＊＝ワイルドカードで全てを意味する）というファイル･マスクで構成されています。
また、パスはユーザー･フレンドリーな名称、例えば、｢アスキー･ファイル」とか「トップ３０銘柄」、あるいは「ハイテク銘柄」などという呼称で指定することもできます。これを エイリアス Alias と言います。（日本語の表示はできないので、ローマ字で指定して下さい。）
パス･メニュー中のパスを選んで、マウスを右クリックすると、四つの選択肢がポップアップします。
このうち、最上部にある第二の選択肢 変更 Edit を左クリックすると。下図のようなウインドウが表示されます。
ここで、パス(Path）名とエイリアス(Alias)を希望のものに変更することができます。
削除 Delete パスの削除を行います。
追加 Add パスの追加を行います。
ファイル･エントリー・パネルの最上部にある窓に直接、希望のパスを手入力することでも、パス指定を行うことができます。
画面右側は指定されたパスの中にある、全ての銘柄ファイル名をリストする、ファイル･メニューです。ここにリストされているファイル名は、指定した ファイル･マスク File mask に合致するもののみです。
チャートを表示する銘柄の選択は、ファイル･メニューの希望の銘柄をクリックすることで行います。
We
call the left side the path menu, and it provides space for your
most frequently accessed files (identified by their directory/file
mask
combination).
The active directory will be highlighted in green, the other entries
will be shown gray. Each line is also capable of displaying a user-defined
alias.
In the above illustration, the active directory is one that targets
Metastock files in directory "C:\MSDATA\Canadian\ase".
In the path menu list above, observe the lines printed in yellow:
"Demo
data (read only)",
"ASCII
files",
etc. These are aliases and can be
named anyway you like. Often people would rather refer to their portfolio
with a user-friendly descriptive term ("Tech Stocks I'm
interested in" )
rather than a cryptic file path ("C:\IDOWNLOAD\TECHSTKS\*.CSV").
Customizing the Path
Menu:
Right-click
any line in the path menu to pop-up a menu with the following options...
Menu Option What it does...
Display Alias Toggle this on/off option to switch the line display
between regular path entry and alias name.
Edit Click this line, and a window appears with two data fields,
one labeled "PATH" and the other "ALIAS". Enter a DOS-compatible
path (including file mask) into the PATH field, then a user-friendly description
in the ALIAS field.
Delete Deletes the
entry from the path menu.
Add Adds a new entry to the path menu.
Note: You can move a Path Menu entry up or down the list by holding
down the Ctrl key on your keyboard then using the left mouse button
to drag the line to the desired location.
Manual Directory Access:
You can also
enter a path in the field at the top of the File Entry Panel, called the
Current Path Field (shown above). This is a typical editor field,
allowing you to enter any path you like. As always, the right side of the
window will always show the corresponding files the instant you hit the
ENTER key.
We refer to the right side of the File Entry Panel as the File Menu (shown
above). It will always list all files that match the file mask shown in the
Current Path Field. In the preceding illustration, the file mask
is "C:\ITAWIN\MS\MASTER".
Making a Selection:
To make a selection
from the file list, move the highlighted bar in the FILE LIST to the desired
entry. This is performed by moving the mouse up or down the listing, or
using the keyboard cursor keys. Then click the entry with the LEFT mouse
button, or strike the keyboard's RETURN key.
Jumping to entries
by their names:
Besides scrolling
the file list, you can also advance to specific entry using the keyboard
characters. Enter the beginning characters of a known filename (for example,
"I", "B", "M"), and you'll observe the list
immediately advances to the first entries that begin with "I",
then "IB", and then "IBM". The Quick Stock
Pick Menu
and Portfolio
List Manager
(used in data merging)
have a similar capability.
