With
the exception of the Price Gap Up/Down and BA Buy/Sell Tag checkboxes, clicking
a filter button activates the Range/Threshold Panel. Using the Range/Threshold
Panel, you can associate a filter with one of the following:
Don't Care In this state, the associated filter button is deactivated
during the scan.
Range In this state, the filter button accepts an upper:lower
range. Two checkboxes are available for declaring if the range is to
be declared inclusive or exclusive.
Threshold In this state, the filter button accepts a single value.
Two checkboxes allow for greater-than or less-than search
requests.
Available Filters:
PRICE This filter
button searches back for the number of days specified by the view
span
setting
for a desired price characteristic (i.e., a threshold or range).
# Entries This filter button selects files whose total number of
entries satisfy a desired count characteristic.
VA RANK This filter button allows you to search within the file scanning
view
span
for
desired VA Rank
characteristics.
UV/DV This filter button searches files whose Up-Volume to Down-Volume fits a desired
UV/DV characteristic.
Norm Vol This is the normalized volume filter. Normalized
volume is the volume of the last entry, divided by the moving average volume.
So a normalized volume greater than 1 signifies heavy volume; less than
1 signifies light volume. This filter button lets you search for files
whose normalized volume fits a desired characteristic.
BA Yield (Simple) This is used to search for files whose overall
"simple"
percent yield, generated by Buy and Sell
tags,
satisfy your criteria.
BA Trans "TRANS" is short for transaction, which
are any buy-then-sell or sell-then-buy pair of BA tags. Use
the BA # TRANS filter to search for files whose total number of BA
transaction pairs satisfy your criteria.
BA Buy Tag This checkbox searches for BA-generated BUY tags, within
the selected view span. For discussion
on how BA buy and sell tags are generated, click here.
BA Sell Tag This checkbox searches for BA-generated SELL tags, within
the selected view span.
BAYld(S)>BAYld(O) This is an important scanning criteria that
tests the effectiveness of BA-placed
buy and sell tags. Click here
for
more information.
Price Gap Up This checkbox searches for price gaps UP, within the
selected view span. A price
gap UP is when the low price of one day is higher than the high price of
the previous day.

Price
Gap Down
This checkbox searches for price gaps DOWN, within the selected view
span.
A price gap DOWN is when the high price of one day is lower than the low
price of the previous day.

Power
Box
This checkbox searches for boxes whose box area (height x width)
is exceptionally larger than it's predecessors, and are sometimes referred
to as power boxes or power bars. You can configure Power Boxes
in the Data Presentation section of the Config Options Panel.
View Span switch:
The View
Span
switch
controls how far back in time you want the file scanner to look when scanning
the data files for certain filters. Not all of the filters pertain to
the View Span switch. Only the following are applicable:
・Price filter
・Price Gap Up switch
・Price Gap Down switch
・VA Rank filter
・BA Buy Tag switch
・BA Sell Tag switch
To remind you of these associations, thin gray lines that connect the View
Span switch to the applicable filters are displayed (see above picture).
Scope switch:
If you have
more than one filter specified (very likely), then you will need to consider
whether you want all to be a condition for passing a stock, or only 1 of
them. This is the purpose of the Filter Scope Switch.
If set to... then...
ALL All criteria entered into the filter buttons must pass. For
instance, if you set a price filter to a range between $5 to $10, and a
VA RANK greater than 70, then both these criteria must be met for
a file to "pass" the scan.
ANY Any criteria entered into the filter buttons need to pass. For
instance, if you set a price filter to a range between $5 to $10, and a
VA RANK greater than 70, then either of these criteria can be satisfied
in order to "pass" (if neither filters pass, then the stock "fails")
