Access to the Quotes Plus database is an Insider TA Professional feature.
There are two ways to load Quotes Plus data:
• Direct access to a known symbol is performed by pressing Ctrl-Q on your keyboard. A window will pop-up allowing you to enter the desired symbol.
• To display a menu of symbols, you will need to access the contents of Quotes Plus List Files. Use Insider TA's File Entry Panel to load these list files (explained below). The process is analogous to Insider TA's method of loading Metastock's data through the use of the XMASTER, EMASTER, or MASTER files.
List Files are ASCII files that contain a list of ticker symbols (one per line). They reside on your computer's hard drive with the file extension "LST".
Quotes Plus List Files
Creating List Files can be done either manually (using a text editor), or automatically (by running a Quotes Plus scan). This latter method is far more efficient! Also note that Quotes Plus provides you with some sample list files in directory C:\QPLUSDAT\LISTS). Any one of these list files can be loaded into Insider TA's File Entry Panel.
Access the File Entry Panel by clicking the "Load Data File" button. Enter the full name of the desired list file (in our example below, this is C:\QPLUSDAT\LISTS\MOSTALL.LST), as shown here...
You then have access to Quotes Plus data by clicking the desired symbol shown in the file list.
You can also run Insider TA's File Scan Utility on list files. Simply input C:\QPLUSDAT\LISTS\MOSTALL.LST into the Scan-By-Path List.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Insider TA will not display some of the Quotes Plus symbols that begin with a "!". These are index data files, and only those that have the minimum data requirements (High, Low, Volume) are able to be loaded by Insider TA.
NOTE: Insider TA is unable to create or edit Quotes Plus data. However, data loaded from any source, including those from Quotes Plus, can be exported to ASCII files using the EXPORT button in the ASCII Field Formatter Panel.
